Stolen Jesus Statute Gets Paint Job

Jesus has returned…with a fresh coat of paint, according to a Connecticut shop owner.

A five-foot Jesus statue that stood in front of Midge Saglimbene’s Angels & Company store in Monroe was reported stolen late last month.

Saglimbene told media outlets that a friend alerted her to the sculpture’s absence after driving past the store.

The Return

Then, on All Saints’ Day, the statue, which had been chipped and faded, reappeared on the storefront.

However, Saglimbene noticed something different.

Whoever took the statue had reportedly painted Jesus’ once dull orange coat bright red and gave the statute’s beard and hair a refreshed look.

A ‘Good Thief’

“Jesus has returned,” Saglimbene told a local television station. “No note was left, but we believe it to be the ‘Good Thief’ with good intentions, and we are grateful.”

Saglimbene told ABC News she received the $600 statue about six months ago from customer who was moving and couldn’t take it with her.

The shop owner was disappointed when she thought it was gone forever, reports said.

Nice to see it returned and freshly painted.
