Sika Flooring has announced the addition of the Sikafloor Metallic FX decorative floor system to the company’s portfolio of commercial and industrial flooring products.

The self-smoothing seamless flooring system aims to give designers “limitless creative options” and deliver depth and dimension to public areas, the company says.

Metallic FX delivers vibrant colors and sheen to last for years with little maintenance, the company says.

Metallic FX features multi-dimensional, pearlescent designs recommended for lobbies, retail areas and other high-visibility spaces.

System Components

The system draws its aesthetics from the company's Sikafloor 216, a two component, low odor, low VOC epoxy resin designed for decorative high-build coating applications.

The field-blended Metallic Powder makes the system highly customizable and adaptable to a building’s distinctive décor, the company says.

Tested in the lab and in the field, Metallic FX delivers vibrant colors and sheen to last for years with little maintenance, according to Sika Flooring.

Forty-four distinct colors options are available.

Sika Flooring is a business unit of the global specialty chemicals company Sika AG of Baar, Switzerland.

The idea is not original. I think we all have metallic floor systems of some sort. What makes this one "top news"?

The innovative implementation of the technology makes it top news. For instance, easiest to blend, the huge variety of colors and quick curing.

Comment from Tom Schwerdt, (8/3/2015, 8:52 AM)

Neither "easiest to blend" (as compared to what? Other Sika products? All competitors?) nor a very high number of colors is mentioned in the article. A quick Googling shows competitors who offer custom-tintable floor coatings, so 44 isn't a particularly impressive color count. Needs more context.
