GAF has introduced a water-based acrylic roof coating billed as a durable, protective weathering layer for low-slope roofs.

WeatherCote Elastomeric Coating also reflects heat and UV light away from a building, the company says.

The product is recommended for low-slope roofs.

The Parsippany, NJ-based manufacturer said the product saves energy because it has an 88 percent initial reflectivity. That also helps to reduce degrade of the membrane below the roof’s substrate, the company added.

WeatherCote Elastomeric can be used on a variety of substrates including granulated BUR, SBS & APP, metal, wood, and concrete, the company said. It can be applied by spray, roller, or brush.

The company said the product is low VOC and is EPA Energy Star rated. It also includes a 7-year material warranty.

What happened to TopCoat? GAF bought TopCoat many years ago when it was one of the first successful coating programs.
