Speakers and Session Chairmen

  • Andre O. Desjarlais, Oak Ridge National Laboratory

    Andre O. Desjarlais joined the ORNL in 1991 as a mechanical engineer and, in 1998, was promoted to group leader of the Building Envelope Systems Research Group. With degrees in aeronautics with an option in fluid mechanics from Boston University, Desjarlais has been a member of American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) since 1987 and serves on Committees C16 on Thermal Insulation, E06 on Building Systems, and D08 on Roofing. He is the past chairman of ASTM Committee C16. He was awarded the title of fellow in 2012. He has been a member of ASHRAE since 1991, serves on Technical Committees TC 4.4 on Thermal Insulation and Building Systems, TC 1.8 on Mechanical Insulation Systems, and TC 1.12 on Moisture Control in Buildings, and is past chairman of TC 4.4 and Research Chairman of TC 1.8.

    Since 1992, Desjarlais has been a member and past director of the Single Ply Roofing Institute (SPRI) Technical Committee and board of directors. He also has served as a member and director of the Roofing Industry Committee on Weather Issues (RICOWI) since 1993. He was a founding member and serves on the board of directors of the Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC). Desjarlais is the ORNL representative and former chairman of the Federal Roofing Committee and past member of the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC).

  • Kenneth A. Trimber, KTA-Tator Inc.

    Kenneth A. Trimber, president of KTA-Tator Inc., has more than 40 years of experience in the industrial painting field. A NACE-Certified Coatings Inspector and SSPC Protective Coatings Specialist, he holds a bachelor's degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. A past president of SSPC, Trimber is chairman of the association's Commercial Coatings Committee, Surface Preparation Committee, and Containment Task Group, as well as a member of the Standards Review Committee. He is a past chairman of ASTM D1 on Paints and Related Coatings, Materials, and Applications and author of The Industrial Lead Paint Removal Handbook.

  • Kevin J. Brown, KTA-Tator Inc.

    As technical director for the Commercial Services Group of KTA-Tator Inc., Kevin J. Brown develops and implements maintenance programs for commercial clients with architectural/commercial problems related to paint failures. He holds a CXLT (Certified XL Tribometrist), NACE Level 2 Coating Inspector certification, and RRO (Registered Roof Observer) certification, as well as a BS and MBA from Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, North Carolina. Brown has more than 15 years of experience in the field of retail facility management, overseeing building maintenance and preventative maintenance programs for more than 1,700 stores, including store repaints, floor coating replacement, and long-range budget planning.

  • David de Sola, 3iVE

    As principal at 3iVE, David de Sola, AIA LEED BD+C, has 25 years' industry experience dedicated to producing healthy, affordable, carefully conceived and finely crafted buildings as both an architect and exterior consultant. An industry leader in both the design and commissioning of institutional building envelopes with successful projects in New England and around the country, de Sola has participated in defining an effective, state-of-the-art collaborative exterior commissioning process. Having taught college level technical and architectural design, he brings his skills as both a practitioner and teacher to his workshops.

  • Jennifer Crisman, The Euclid Chemical Company

    Jennifer Crisman is the Senior Product Marketing Manager for Construction Products at The Euclid Chemical Company in Cleveland, Ohio. She began her career at Euclid 20 years ago in the product development group, where she was responsible for the formulation and testing of concrete coatings, sealers, adhesives and joint fillers. In her current role, Crisman manages the marketing activities for these products as well as for Euclid's concrete repair mortars, grouts and waterproofing systems. She is a member of ASTM International's subcommittee on Concrete Curing, as well as ACI technical committees on Curing Concrete, Repair of Concrete and Decorative Concrete. Crisman holds Bachelor of Chemical Engineering and Master of Business Administration degrees from Cleveland State University in Cleveland.

  • Chuck Duffin, Sto Corp.

    Chuck Duffin is the Strategic and National Accounts Manager for Coatings and Renovation at Sto Corp. In his 26 years with the company, he has also served as a technical trainer and a technical sales specialist. Formerly, he worked as a journeyman plasterer in Dallas, TX.



  • Al Morris, PROSOCO

    Al Morris, PROSOCO's national sales manager, has been involved in the cleaning, coating and restoration industry for the last 20 years. He has been an active member of SWR Institute since 1994 serving on the board as well as chairing several committees during this time. Morris is a Certified Consultant of Concrete Masonry (CCCM), a CSI Construction Document Technologist (CDT), and a member of the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE), through which he is a NACE Certified Coating Inspector Level 3.

  • Ed Telson, Sto Corp.

    Born in Miami, Florida, Ed Telson is the son of a coatings contractor and grew up in the family paint store. He is a graduate of Stetson University with a bachelor's in business administration. Telson has had his own contracting company and formerly held positions with Duron Paint as a district sales manager, national paint product manager with Masco Contractor Services/Behr Paint and industrial director of sales for the Southeast with the Comex Group. He currently serves as the coatings segment manager for Sto Corp. Telson has been involved in and consulted on all aspects of coatings development, including application, specifications, inspections and sales. He has been a member of the PDCA and is a NACE Level 2 Coatings Inspector

  • Tom Tipps, KEIM Mineral Coatings of America

    Tom Tipps is National Accounts Manager as well as a product specialist and technical advisor for KEIM Mineral Coatings of America. He helps to develop coatings strategies that remain faithful to the design intent and function of buildings.



  • Michael Edison, Edison Coatings

    Michael Edison is a chemical engineer and is Founder and President of Edison Coatings Inc. Since 1981 the company has been developing and producing customized coatings, adhesives and mortars primarily aimed at restoration of concrete, stone and masonry. He is a past president of the Connecticut Chapter of ICRI, a past director of the Northeast Chapter of the Association for Preservation Technology International, and is currently vice president of the Society for the Preservation of Historic Cements Inc. He is also chairman of ASTM Task Group C1.10.04 on Natural Cement.

  • Christopher Perego, BASF Corporation

    Christopher Perego is the Industry Sector Manager for Buildings + Restoration at BASF Corporation. He is responsible for strategy and market development within the New Construction and Restoration industry sectors. Before joining BASF in 1998, he was employed by Pratt & Lambert Paints, ICI Paints and WR Grace. Throughout his career, he has focused on protection and repair of concrete and masonry structures.

  • Bill Dunn, GCP Applied Technologies

    Bill Dunn is the global market manager for GCP Applied Technologies' Weather Barrier business unit. In that role, he is responsible for marketing and technical support for the GCP Applied Technologies Building Envelope business unit. Dunn has more than 20 years of experience in the construction industry serving in various capacities, including research and development manager, sales manager and marketing manager.

  • Tyson Lodge, Sto Corp.

    As Technical Services Manager with a focus on building envelope solutions, Tyson Lodge's responsibilities for Sto Corp. include product development and testing, complaint investigation and resolution, and related documentation. As an installer of air barriers and exterior claddings for many years, he has first-hand knowledge of the tremendous challenges and choices contractors are faced with daily.

  • Benjamin Meyer, DuPont Protection Solutions

    Benjamin Meyer, RA, LEED AP, is a Building Science and Sustainability Leader with the DuPont Building Knowledge Center. He has worked previously in commercial design, real estate development and construction management on a range of projects that included residential, educational, offices and DuPont industrial projects. He is on the Board of Directors of the ABAA, a Technical Advisory of the LEED Materials (MR) TAG, and is a Voting Member of the ASHRAE 90.1 Envelope Subcommittee. Meyer has MBA, B.S. and M.Arch degrees from the University of Cincinnati.

  • David R. Pennington, Prosoco

    Dave Pennington is the Building Envelope Group manager for Prosoco and is responsible for development, promotion, sales and technical support of Building Envelope Products. He has 25 years of experience in the construction industry, focused on sales, promotion and technical support of Division 3, 4, 7 and 9 products in manufacturing and distribution. Pennington's unique background offers valuable insight to architects, consultants, contractors and building owners when seeking solutions on projects. He is also a board Member of the Air Barrier Association of America, as well as an active member of CSI and RCI.

  • Todd Skopic, Henry Company

    Todd Skopic, CSI, CDT, LEED AP, has been involved in the design and construction industry since 1986. He specializes in water, moisture and air intrusion prevention into the building envelope. Additionally, he is the subject matter expert for both air barriers and waterproofing for the Henry Company. He is active in CSI, RCI, BEC, ASTM E06 and ABAA, and serves on technical committees for ASTM and ABAA.

  • Russell Snow, W.R. Meadows

    Currently the Building Envelope Product Group Manager/Building Science Specialist for W.R. Meadows, Russell Snow, CSP, CTR, BSSO, LEED AP, has more than 20 years of experience in the construction industry in areas such as building envelope, concrete restoration and products used in the treatment of concrete. He attained his LEED Accredited Professional designation in April 2008. Snow currently serves as Chair of the Air Barrier Association of America and is a member of the ASTM E06, ASTM D08 and American Concrete Institute committees. Snow has also been involved for a number of years with Construction Specifications Canada and is currently involved nationally with the CSC Educational Maintenance Task Team, including being the Chair of the Technical Representative Course Committee.
