If Reinstadtler looks at the list of product Bayer mfg he will note with clarity that the only product that protects concrete reinforcing steel in a marine environment is 98% pure Silane. Reference: Iron Age. Let’s see, if we want a pretty colored bridge we paint it with color. The paint, like silane allows for the passage of moisture [In & Out]. But the silane, unlike paint, disallows for the passage of sodium chlorides. Hey, everybody knows this. But then, not everybody works in paint department so we sell (market) colored paint, which in fact, allows for the moisture to pass through the paint and the concrete as always, but the silane, while allowing for similar passage of moisture in and out, disallows for the passage of harmful chlorides. (Something Paint cannot do)!

Ron, with respect to concrete, it is possible to use a two component system comprised of a pigmented silicate treatment to impart color (which by the way, will not peel, blister or fade), along with a silane waterproofer. In this way, you can have your cake and eat it too.
